Closed-Cell Spray Foam is Revolutionizing Energy Efficiency -- As Amazing as That Sounds (Part Four)
by Katie McVay
If you've been tuning in over the past couple of weeks, we've been discussing closed-cell spray foam, a product that is taking the building industry by storm. Because of it's many benefits, it's becomming the insulation of choice for many homeowners, builders and remodelers for both new and existing buildings. Before we take a look at the many benefits of closed-cell spray foam, you'll first want to read the introduction to closed-cell spray foam (ccSPF), what this type of insulation is, and how it's installed.
Now let's discuss the many benefits of Closed-Cell Spray Foam insulation.
Closed-cell spray foam offers complete moisture control and can add structural strength to buildings. It won't shrink or settle over time, meaning you'll never have to re-insulate. And since closed-cell spray foam maintains its adhesive and structural properties over time, it can help reduce damage from high winds. Closed-cell spray foam is the only insulation approved by FEMA to be flood resistant, making it especially beneficial for use in coastal, flood-prone areas.
The U.S. government has done its part to incentivize the need to create a more efficient, sustainable environment in the form of tax credits to building owners and developers, among other opportunities. Spray foam is eligible for many of these programs, and should be considered where budget and application allow.
